Expedia makes hotel choice more conversational
Its October release gives hotels another reason to make room details, policies and local experiences easy to understand.

Expedia Group's 28 October release expands conversational discovery across its travel brands. The announcement covers natural-language search, Hotels.com AI Compare and an Expedia Activity Planner. Property Expert answers questions using property information, guest reviews and reservation context. The relevant FAQ describes US availability; this is not a claim of a Greek rollout. A separate 20 October launch makes it easier for hotels to transfer property details from participating connectivity systems into Expedia. [Sources]
For a hotel, the useful question is what these tools will have to work with. A guest may care about adjoining rooms, a quiet place to work, the journey from the airport or whether dinner is available after a late arrival. A beautiful opening photograph does little to resolve those questions on its own.
The One9Six view
The response should begin with the information that decides whether a property suits a particular trip. We would work with the hotel's team to build a concise, approved record of room configurations, access, inclusions, operating hours, policies and nearby experiences. Each fact needs an owner who can keep it current. Descriptive copy should then make those distinctions useful to the intended guest.
This is also a reason to connect distribution content with the hotel's own website. If a platform explains one cancellation policy and the direct booking journey appears to promise another, the guest has to resolve the contradiction. We would review the main channels together, prioritising information that can change a booking decision or create an avoidable service problem.
The creative task is equally specific. Photographs should show the room arrangements, facilities and experiences being described. A family stay, a working visit and a restorative break may require different selections from the same property. The aim is to help a prospective guest recognise the right option without searching through a generic gallery.
A focused first release could cover the ten questions most often raised before booking, supported by current photographs and clear answers in English and Greek. The hotel can then monitor enquiry quality, unresolved questions and completed bookings. Better information is a controllable improvement; a promised position in an AI recommendation is not.
